GOP Rep. McCarthy: “We’re all united around fire Pelosi”

According to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Republicans are uniting to take down House Democrats, especially House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), in the 2022 midterm elections.

“The one thing I will tell you is, we’re all united around fire Pelosi,” McCarthy said on Thursday.

“A hundred percent united”

McCarthy comments came during an interview on Newsmax’s “Spicer & Co.” One of the themes that McCarthy emphasized during the interview was that House Republicans are united.

“There’s enough items going on that is harming America when it comes to inflation, crime, the border, the wokeism, the movement of this presidency that we should focus upon,” McCarthy said. “We might have a few differences, but there’s more that unites us than divides us.”

McCarthy contrasted this unitedness of House Republicans with the disunity of House Democrats.

“I’ll tell you, our conference is a hundred percent united — different than the Democratic conference,” McCarthy said.

Fixing America

McCarthy went on to argue that the key to fixing America is getting rid of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, an idea that he said House Republicans are united behind.

“Our only way to fix America is to fire Pelosi,” McCarthy said. “That’s why I put out, and I’ve asked everybody to go to ‘’ and join with us. We have a real opportunity here to stop this socialist movement within America.”

McCarthy, from there, took aim at President Joe Biden.

“There’s not one American viewer that’s watching this show right now that hasn’t been negatively impacted by his policies,” McCarthy said. “Your gasoline price is higher, America’s borders are unsecure, you watch crime throughout our country. Everything you look at is costing you more. This is what these policies have done.”

Looking ahead

Generic congressional polls have been consistently showing that Republicans are favored to take back the House in the 2022 midterm elections. This, of course, is not a foregone conclusion, but the Democrats seem to know something is up, as many of the more vulnerable ones have decided to call it quits ahead of 2022.

McCarthy, during Thursday’s interview, gave a preview of the sort of things House Republicans would pursue should they win back the majority. The list includes securing the southern border, stopping inflation, and fighting crime, among others.
