Another Biden administration nominee is receiving pushback during the confirmation process by Republican lawmakers.
This time, Sen. John Kennedy (D-LA) questioned District of Nevada judicial nominee Anne Rachel Traum in a valiant effort to elicit a response regarding concerns about social justice and its impact on the court.
“I can’t vote for you”
According to the Daily Wire, after nine attempts to draw a reply, Kennedy finally asked: “What’s your favorite color?”
After Traum indicated it was blue, the Louisiana Republican replied: “Thank you. I got one. I’m one for about 20. I can’t vote for you. Not if you’re not going to answer questions. I mean, that was embarrassing.”
Traum’s refusal to answer multiple basic questions regarding her prospective role as a district judge has become an increasingly frequent tactic for Biden nominees. Perhaps in an effort to deprive conservative critics of evidence that they hold radical views, nominees appear to have resorted to indirect replies and deflections.
Biden’s nominee to serve as comptroller of the currency, for example, attempted to downplay her family ties to the former Soviet Union and her own supposed sympathy for certain communist ideals.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives nominee David Chipman drew sharp criticism over his history of lobbying for increased firearm regulations.
Troubling trend continues
Another problematic Biden nominee was Tracy Stone-Manning, the Bureau of Land Management pick linked to a tree-spiking incident more than 30 years ago.
As The Federalist explained, tree-spiking is a process whereby radical environmentalists insert metal rods into trees. The rods become projectiles that launch sometimes fatally, back out at not only loggers but sometimes firefighters and other essential personnel.
Despite the controversy, Stone-Manning was confirmed to the post in October.
For his part, Kennedy has a long history of using his brand of folksy humor to point out the hypocrisy and absurdity he witnesses from his seat on Capitol Hill. Of course, when confronted with a string of nominees whose backgrounds include evidence of radical beliefs and actions, voters are increasingly learning that this is no laughing matter.
Although he campaigned as a moderate, Biden’s penchant for promoting far-left policies and officials is perhaps one of the many causes for his plummeting approval rating.
