GOP senator: Whistleblowers say DOJ tried to discredit information about Hunter Biden

Joe Biden repeatedly dismissed reports about his son’s abandoned laptop during the 2020 election as Russian disinformation, despite major media outlets later confirming them to be genuine.

Now, a long-time Republican senator is demanding to know what role federal law enforcement played in suppressing the truth.

GOP lawmaker cites “highly credible whistleblowers”

According to the New York Post, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland on Monday addressing how they have handled matters pertaining to Hunter Biden.

In it, the Senate Judiciary Committee’s ranking GOP member said that “highly credible whistleblowers” have alleged that “verified and verifiable” claims about Biden were improperly categorized as “disinformation.”

“The information provided to my office involves concerns about the FBI’s receipt and use of derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden and the FBI’s false portrayal of acquired evidence as disinformation,” Grassley wrote.

“The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility and necessitate this letter,” he continued

“First, it’s been alleged that the FBI developed information in 2020 about Hunter Biden’s criminal financial and related activity,” Grassley stated.

“It is further alleged that in August 2020, FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst Brian Auten opened an assessment that was used by an FBI Headquarters (‘FBI HQ’) team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease,” he added

Grassley went on to tell Garland and Wray that they “have an obligation to the country to take these allegations seriously, immediately investigate and take steps to institute fixes to these and other matters before you.”

Laptop records suggest Biden may have violated lobbying rules

In addition to images of him consuming drugs and cavorting with prostitutes, the Post also reported last week that Hunter Biden’s laptop contains evidence that he violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Passed in 1938, the law requires those who engage in lobbying efforts on behalf of foreign powers to register with the federal government.

The Post noted that although Biden has never registered as a lobbyist, electronic records show he regularly had visits with his then vice president father immediately after meeting with foreign officials.
