Gowdy blasts left’s radical bail reform following Waukesha parade tragedy

Fox News host Trey Gowdy blasted the left’s bail reform efforts following a Wisconsin parade tragedy that left six dead and dozens injured.

Gowdy referred to the Waukesha parade tragedy during which Darrell Brooks reportedly drove over numerous individuals days after being released on $1,000 bail after multiple crimes.

The comments took place during his “Sunday Night in America” program on Fox News.

Sounding Off

“Last Sunday night in Wisconsin it was not Santa Claus coming down the parade route. He is not a career criminal on bond,” Gowdy said. “It was Darrell Brooks Jr., a lifelong criminal who has been hurting people for most of his life.”

“He was on the sex offender registry out on bond again, running over parents, grandparents and children. This night of joy in Wisconsin ended with agonizing grief,” Gowdy continued.

“That grief quickly turned to anger because Darrell Brooks Jr. never should have been driving last Sunday night, he should have been in jail.”

Slamming the Left

Gowdy’s comments attacked the left’s bail reform plans that make it easier for criminals to be released to the public.

The criticism follows another recent rant against Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s attempts to blame police for higher crime rates at the same time she sought to defund the police.

“The police are apparently to blame for the murder, rape and carjacking,” Gowdy mocked.

“Don’t blame the perpetrator, don’t blame the person actually committing the crime, blame the police,” he added.

The responses are strong, but also accurate. Those who seek to lessen the punishment for crimes are also complicit in the future crimes those released later commit.
