Former FBI Director James Comey is once again in the hot seat after former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates testified about the Justice Department’s actions regarding the Russia collusion investigation on Wednesday.
Yates’ testimony revealed that Comey ‘went rogue’ in authorizing the probe into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, circumventing the chain of command to incriminate the incoming Trump administration.
Bad news for Comey
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told Fox News on Wednesday after Yates’ testimony that people are abandoning Comey in droves.
“Here’s what I can prove, that Jim Comey has become radioactive,” Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “People are running away from him like he’s got the plague.”
The walls are closing in on the Obama administration’s abuse of the Justice system to undermine a duly elected president, and recent revelations about Comey’s actions are just the tip of the iceberg.
“[Former Deputy AG Rod] Rosenstein said, ‘No, I wouldn’t sign the warrant if I knew then what I knew now,’” Graham explained.
“Sally Yates threw him under the bus, that he went rogue, that he set up General Flynn for, as you say, to manufacture a crime. So, what’s the takeaway here? That Comey set on top of one of the most corrupt investigations, Crossfire Hurricane, in the history of the FBI, and the rats are jumping ship. Bad day for Jim Comey.”
The South Carolina Senator confirmed that he plans to call Comey to testify in September.
The walls are closing in
Former Obama officials got another nasty shock on Wednesday, this time from U.S. Attorney John Durham, who has been quietly conducting a probe into the origins of Crossfire Hurricane since 2019.
According to sources familiar with the probe, Durham has requested to interview former CIA director John Brennan as part of his probe, and Brennan has agreed to cooperate.
The Washington Examiner reported:
Durham is looking into whether Brennan took politicized actions to pressure the rest of the intelligence community to match his conclusions about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s motivations, according to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal.
Durham is also reportedly set to probe Brennan’s actions surrounding the now-debunked Steele Dossier, which is largely seen as the basis for the Obama administration’s launching of Crossfire Hurricane. The same sources also reported that Durham’s planned interview of Brennan signals that Durham is close to wrapping up his investigation.
