During Friday’s broadcast of his Fox News program, host Sean Hannity responded to President-elect Joe Biden’s comments about the riot that happened on Capitol Hill last week.
Hannity pointed out that although Biden and his Democratic allies say they’re interested in unifying the country, the tone of their rhetoric suggests a very different intention.
This won’t bring unity
“Now ask yourself about Mr. Biden,” Hannity began. “When did Mr. ‘I want to unite the nation’ Biden ever speak out about all of the lies and the Russia conspiracy theories and the witch hunt conspiracy theories?”
“When did he ever speak out about the language of the left? After years of never-ending rage, hysteria, and outright lies, we are now supposed to believe he wants to bring us all together because he says so? His calls for unity ring hollow.”
“So it’s a serious question,” Hannity insisted. “Why would anyone who voted for Trump trust the mob in the media or Joe Biden or Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer or Kamala Harris?”
The conservative television personality went on to declare, “If Democrats really cared about the truth and about unity, they would’ve spoken out a long time ago.”‘
“The vast majority of the Trump supporters at the rally, 99 percent of them are good, law-abiding, taxpaying, hardworking American citizens that raise their kids,” he said, “and they were there to have a peaceful protest. Ninety-nine percent were peaceful.”
Biden adds to racial tensions
On Thursday, Biden added to racial tensions by alleging that members of the U.S. Capitol Police held back in their treatment of pro-Trump rioters because most were white.
“No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesters yesterday that they wouldn’t have been treated very differently than the mob that stormed the Capitol,” Fox News quoted Biden as saying on Thursday.
“We all know that’s true,” the president-elect insisted, adding that the perceived double standard was “unacceptable.”
In fact, Washington, D.C. saw days of rioting this summer that involved mayhem by those associated with the Black Lives Matter movement and yet none were killed by law enforcement.
By contrast, reported Trump supporter and Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt was fatally shot by authorities as she attempted to enter the Capitol.
