Author: Kamala Harris ‘did not prosecute a single case of priests’ sexual abuse’ as San Francisco DA

In his 2015 book Clinton Cash, author and Government Accountability Institute president Peter Schweizer profiled crooked behavior on the part of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her husband.

Schweizer released another book this year called Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite. And according to Breitbart, among its allegations is that during her time as San Francisco’s district attorney, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) turned a blind eye to sex abuse by priests.

“She did not prosecute”

The author appeared on Thursday’s episode of Breitbart News Daily, where he spoke with host Alex Marlow about some of his findings. “A lot of people will remember — especially people my age, in their 50s — in the early 2000s, there was a national scandal that brewed about the fact that the Catholic church had a pedophile problem,” Schweizer said, according to Breitbart.

“San Francisco had that problem, as did other parts of the country,” he continued. “The problem is that under Harris’ tenure from 2004 to 2011, she did not prosecute a single case of priests’ sexual abuse.”

Schweizer went on to highlight one fact that he says proves Harris was apathetic to the issue.

“Just to show how that stands out of the top 50 cities in America during the time, the only one that never prosecuted a single case was in San Francisco under Kamala Harris,” the author pointed out to Breitbart.

Follow the money

That fact prompted Schweizer to inquire as to why Harris’ office was “such an outlier” when it came to dealing with cases of clerical abuse — and speaking with Breitbart, he argued that the answer has to do with money.

“A lot of the financial support for [Harris’] campaign to run as district attorney came from law firms that were providing legal protection for the Archdiocese, they were representing some priests who were involved in civil cases, [and] they handled other legal matters for the Catholic Church,” Schweizer told Marlow, as Breitbart reported.

“These tend to be very left-wing Catholics,” he added. “They all were connected to the institutions that were being fingered for these kinds of problems.”

What’s more, Schweizer explained that not only did Harris fail to initiate a new investigation, but she also chose to shut down the one that her predecessor, Terence Hallinan, had begun. “[Harris] actually [took] those records and put them under seal so they can never be released,” Schweizer said, calling the move “pretty shocking,” as Breitbart reported.

It’s just the latest piece of the senator’s record as a prosecutor that seems to be coming back to haunt her as she vies for the White House alongside Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden. And President Donald Trump, for his part, isn’t shying away from highlighting the controversy.
