VP Harris claims, falsely, the Biden administration didn’t foresee COVID variants

Vice President Kamala Harris appears to have just made another admission that proves how badly the Biden administration is handling the latest iteration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Fox NewsHarris recently falsely claimed that the Biden administration was unable to foresee the possibility of the delta and omicron variants of COVID-19, even though many of the administration’s own health experts predicted numerous variants would arise.

“We didn’t see [them] coming.”

Harris’ claim came about during an interview with the Los Angeles Times, which was published Friday.

“We didn’t see delta coming,” Harris said. “I think most scientists did not — upon whose advice and direction we have relied — didn’t see Delta coming.”

“We didn’t see omicron coming,” she continued. “And, that’s the nature of what this, this awful virus has been, which as it turns out, has mutations and variants.”

Premature victory

Harris was later asked whether President Joe Biden prematurely declared victory against the pandemic. As you’ll recall, it was a campaign promise of Biden’s that he would beat COVID-19, and on July 4, he prematurely declared victory when, in fact, it was far from that.

“While the virus hasn’t been vanquished, we know this: It no longer controls our lives. It no longer paralyzes our nation. And it’s within our power to make sure it never does again,” the president said.

Harris, though, denied that Biden declared victory prematurely. “We have not been victorious over it,” she said. “I don’t think that in any regard anyone can claim victory when, you know, there are 800,000 people who are dead because of this virus,” failing to note that more Americans have died under Biden’s watch than under former President Donald Trump’s time in the White House.

The real problem

For many, it will come as no surprise that Harris would make such a claim, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to once again spiral out of control. The Biden administration isn’t good at much, but it has excelled at making excuses for failing to tackle national crises.

Even Dr. Anthony Fauci, Biden’s chief medical adviser, said in August that variants could be a problem this winter, according to McClatchy DC. Numerous other scientists and public health experts had warned of the same.

What the administration really deserves blame for is not the failure to foresee COVID-19 variants, but rather its response to the pandemic as a whole. The response has partially resulted in an economic crisis that has devastated Americans at a time when the nation faces other dire situations created largely from Biden’s policies.

Don’t be surprised if in the coming days, weeks, and months, given the recent surge in cases nationwide, that power-hungry Dems, and the White House, move to once again institute failed lockdowns and other restrictions that didn’t work so well the first time around.
