Harris once bragged about her support for Biden’s haphazard troop withdrawal plan

Earlier this year, Vice President Kamala Harris claimed credit for advising President Joe Biden on his plans to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan. Given what’s happened over the past few days, she might be regretting her momentary brag at the time.

In April, Politico reported that Harris made an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union during which she very proudly spoke with host Dana Bash about being “the last person in the room” before Biden made his decision to pull the remaining troops out of Afghanistan.

“This is a president who has an extraordinary amount of courage,” Harris said of her boss at the time. “He is someone, who I have seen over and over again, make decisions based on what he truly believes…is the right thing to do.”

She went on to add that the president “is acutely aware that it may not be politically popular, or advantageous for him personally; it’s really something to see.”

That didn’t age well

Harris recalled having witnessed the president “over and over again make decisions based exactly on what he believes is right.”

Fox News reported that Biden previously waved off any suggestion that leaving Afghanistan would be similar to the 1975 fall of Saigon while speaking during a July press conference. “There is going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of an embassy in the — of the United States from Afghanistan,” Biden promised. “It is not at all comparable.”

However, Biden’s idea about what would happen in Afghanistan when American forces were pulled out very clearly appears to have been wildly inaccurate and outright false.

The war-torn country descended into chaos late last week as Taliban forces overran government positions and key provincial capitals, often acquiring cutting-edge American military weapons and equipment as they captured various abandoned U.S. facilities along the way.

“Some of that weaponry is now being brazenly paraded ahead of the U.S. troops’ 9/11 withdrawal deadline by insurgents who have maintained ties with Al Qaeda, the group behind the 2001 terror attacks,” France24 reported.

Horrific scenes emerge

The situation turned even worse as the Taliban made its final push into Kabul, which triggered desperate citizens to converge on the city’s largest airport in a last-ditch attempt to flee what will undoubtedly be a brutal, radical Islamic regime for the foreseeable future.

Horrifying viral video footage showed people clinging to a departing U.S. Air Force C-17 transport plane, with some reportedly later falling to their death after falling off the transport jet after it was airborne. (Editor’s note: The video shown below contains graphic images that may be disturbing to some.)
