Vice President Kamala Harris’ report on the “root causes” of illegal immigration was so “empty” and “hollow” that the Biden administration sought to bury it by instead releasing a plan to boost migration, Breitbart’s Neil Munro reported Friday.
Harris’ root causes report doesn’t really address the problem in any significant way. It pretends the U.S. government has nothing to do with the recent surge in migration and suggests throwing money at the problem by “investing” in Northern Triangle countries.
Furthermore, it doesn’t assign any responsibility to U.S. agencies to implement or fund the plan, or tell them how much money they will have to do the necessary work. In short, it is another example of Harris’ usual incompetence, made all the bigger because she is now the vice president of the United States.
Full of cliches
The cover letter to the report is notably full of cliches, but signifies nothing of any real import to the problem, as Munro pointed out. In other words, it highlights the vice president’s mediocrity as a government official.
“Ultimately, our Administration will consistently engage in the region to address the root causes of migration,” Harris wrote in the report. “We will build on what works, and we will pivot away from what does not work. It will not be easy, and progress will not be instantaneous, but we are committed to getting it right. Because we know: The strength and security of the United States depends on the implementation of strategies like this one.”
It’s basically a term paper written by a “C” student who pulled an all-nighter. It seems to serve no purpose other than allowing the VP to check off a box saying she did it.
In fact, activists in the region say that the U.S. is taking some of the Northern Triangle countries’ best workers through open border immigration policies and giving them jobs in the U.S., and that this is contributing to the poverty in the region that Harris says is fueling further illegal immigration.
But this is not mentioned in Harris’ report, even though people as high up as El Salvador’s president have highlighted it as a problem, as Breitbart has reported separately.
Biden wants more migration
Meanwhile, Biden’s competing plan that was used to camouflage Harris’ disastrous report wants to see even more migration to the U.S.
According to Munro, an administration official told reporters last week that they’re “not seeking to end migration as part of the fabric of this region.”
“What we’re seeking to change the ways in which people migrate, to provide an alternative to the criminal smuggling and trafficking rings, and to give people access to opportunity and protection [in the United States] through safe legal channels,” the official added.
This is not surprising, since it seems many in the Democratic Party are convinced that more immigration will eventually mean more Democratic voters.
