Kamala Harris uses Sandy Hook shooting anniversary to push gun control

Sen Kamala Harris (D-CA), the person who will likely be driving the agenda in the White House for the next four years, reminded Americans of her anti-gun views on the 8th anniversary of the horrific Sandy Hook, Connecticut, shooting.

“Today marks 8 years since 20 first-graders and 6 educators were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School,” Harris tweeted Monday.

She continued, “To honor the lives lost in this terrible tragedy, it’s past time we implement common-sense gun safety reforms to keep our children safe.”

Underneath Harris’ remarks are pictures of the shooting victims along with a caption that reads, “Always Remember Sandy Hook.”

Biden promises gun control

Harris’ call for “gun reform” came at the same time that Democratic nominee Joe Biden released a gun control-related statement of his own, Yahoo! News reported.

“I have heard from and watched as so many of you turned pain into purpose, working to change our laws and our culture around gun violence and how we protect and nurture our children,” he said in the statement.

“Eight years later, there have been plenty of thoughts and prayers, but we know that is not enough,” the former vice president continued. “Together with you and millions of our fellow Americans of every background all across our nation, we will fight to end this scourge on our society and enact common sense reforms that are supported by a majority of Americans and that will save countless lives.”

Biden also praised anti-gun activists for having “helped us forge a consensus that gun violence is a national health crisis and we need to address its total cost to fully heal families, communities, and our nation.”

O’Rourke will solve “gun problem”

Among the activists to win Biden’s praise is failed Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke.

Video footage from a campaign event in March showed the former vice president welcoming O’Rourke on stage and declaring that he would “be the one to take care of the gun problem.”

The former Texas congressman is famous for shouting at a primary debate, “Hell yes, we’re going to take away your AR-15, your AK-47.”

One “common sense” measure to combat school shootings would be to get rid of “gun free zones,” which would allow students to be protected. Unfortunately, Biden has done the exact opposite and championed the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990.
