VP Harris spotted power walking in DC after mysterious trip to CA

Vice President Kamala Harris was spotted conspicuously power walking with her husband in the nation’s capital on Sunday.

According to the New York Post, the vice president had just come back from a mysterious trip to California that apparently took Democrats by surprise. Was the infamously cynically politician intentionally photographed in D.C. to create some kind of diversion?

A “private matter”

Harris had left for ritzy Palm Springs, California on Friday and came back to Washington on Saturday.

Reporters were not allowed at Palm Springs International Airport, her public schedule was empty, and the White House said nothing about the journey, although a spokesperson later told the Washington Examiner that Harris was attending to a “private family matter.”

There was a heavy police presence at a local Marriott resort before her return trip, KESQ noted. Then, on Sunday, Harris, and husband Douglas Emhoff, were seen on the streets of the nation’s capital.

Washington has been consumed with drama over passing President Joe Biden’s agenda, which made Harris’s abrupt trip confusing, even to allies of the president.

“This trip to California is confusing to some Biden allies, who are wondering why the VP who was a Senator is not more involved in helping the administration’s domestic agenda gain the support it needs in the Senate,” The New York Times reporter Annie Karni said.

Trip raises eyebrows

Harris’s trip to the Golden State apparently took Democrats in Palm Springs by surprise as well.

Located in the Sonoran Desert, Palm Springs is more than 100 miles east of Los Angeles, where Harris and Emhoff have a home. California is the state where Harris built her political career, first as the mistress to power broker Willie Brown before becoming a prosecutor and then a U.S. senator.

While her rise to the vice presidency was greeted with much media fanfare, she is the most unpopular vice president in recent history, and Democrats have fretted about her capability to defend the White House in 2024, as the New York Post previously reported.

A RealClearPolitics average of polls has Harris standing at a minus nine approval rating.

In addition to her own stunning incompetence, Harris has been beleaguered by reports of infighting in her office, and her cavalier approach to the southern U.S. border crisis hasn’t helped her public image either.
