Kamala Harris to be featured in star-studded fundraiser: Report

Breitbart’s David Ng called out Democrat vice presidential hopeful Kamala Harris for seeming to walk back her “Kamala for the People” persona to cater to the Hollywood elites.

Ng reported Thursday that Harris, a senator from California, will be featured at a high-brow fundraiser chaired by left-wing TV show producer Ryan Murphy and Murphy’s husband, David Miller.

So much for being an advocate for the little guy.

For the people?

According to Ng, Deadline was the first to report on the virtual fundraiser, which is scheduled for Sept. 3.

“We couldn’t be more excited for our friend Senator Kamala Harris to join the Democratic ticket and be our Vice Presidential Nominee,” the invitation to the event reads, according to Deadline. “In less than twelve weeks, we have the chance to make history and elect Joe Biden as the next President and Senator Harris as the first woman to serve as Vice President.”

According to Ng, tickets for the event start at $10,000 per person, with tickets worth $100,000 earning the donor co-host status and $250,000 tickets earning the purchaser the title of full-fledged host. A maximum donation of $500,000 will get the donor listed as an event chair, Deadline reported.

All proceeds raised will reportedly go toward the Biden Victory Fund, which is jointly operated by the Biden campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and various state-level parties.

Hob-nobbing with the stars

The ticket price for the event doesn’t exactly represent the kind of cash the average American worker can simply part with to be included — much less honored — in a glorified Zoom call with the vice-presidential nominee, but it seems that price tag can be easily met by the Hollywood big shots and celebrities who helped get Sen. Harris elected in California in the first place.

Deadline shared the names Thursday of numerous actors and executives who’ve already ponied-up the funds to be named as hosts and co-hosts of the event, including Chuck Lorre, Abrams and Katie McGrath, and Shannon and Michael Rotenberg.

Others, like actor and director George Clooney, have organized and hosted virtual fundraising events for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden himself.

According to Breitbart, Clooney’s star-studded fundraiser brought a whopping $7 million in for the former vice president.

So much for Biden and Harris and the Democrats being “for the people.” “For the elite” sounds more like it.
