David Hogg, who rose to national prominence as a gun control advocate following the 2018 Parkland, Florida school shooting, has since become just another run-of-the-mill misinformed leftist activist with loud opinions about subjects he doesn’t fully understand.
Now, in what many conservatives would view as a win, Hogg has vowed to not have any children following two recent Supreme Court decisions he disagreed with on abortion and gun rights, Louder with Crowder reported.
There will be no little Hogg-lets running around
Hogg, like so many others on the ideological left, has been in a perpetual state of outrage over the past few days and weeks as the Supreme Court has delivered several major blows to the Democratic agenda on a wide variety of consequential issues, including abortion and the Second Amendment.
It was apparently all too much to bear for Hogg, who took to Twitter this week and wrote, “I’m not going to have kids in a country where they have less rights than their parents did and they aren’t safe in their schools or community.”
Hilariously, and whether Hogg realized it or not, his refraining from procreation — which, presumably, would mean fewer indoctrinated “woke” leftists in the future — is something that many Americans on the right would be perfectly fine with and, in fact, would encourage for not just Hogg but also others like him.
Speaking about that of which he does not know
What Hogg was referring to in his ridiculous tweet were the two major Supreme Court rulings issued last week that restored gun rights for New Yorkers and returned the issue of abortion to the individual states.
First, in the case of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, the court ruled 6-3 to strike down as unconstitutional an arbitrary provision in New York’s concealed carry licensing scheme that required applicants to provide a “proper cause” above and beyond mere self-defense in order to receive a license to carry a concealed handgun.
Though leftists like Hogg have decried that ruling as one that will make streets and schools a more dangerous place, in reality, the ruling actually just requires New York, and five other states like it, to switch from an arbitrary “may issue” concealed carry permit regime to the objective “shall issue” provisions adopted by 43 other states.
Then, the very next day, a majority of the court ruled in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization to both strike down 1973’s Roe v. Wade precedent on abortion rights and uphold a Mississippi law that mostly bans the fatal procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
Misinformed leftists like Hogg have reacted as though the Supreme Court just completely banned all abortions nationwide, but all it did was return to the status quo prior to Roe in which the voters of each individual state, by way of their democratically elected political leaders, had the right to regulate abortions as they best see fit to do.
Guys, Hogg has a plan to fix everything …
Unfortunately, reality and activists like Hogg are rarely on the same page, as was evidenced by another post from the prolific tweeter on Thursday in which he laid out his vision for how his fellow leftist Democrats could better improve the nation in the immediate future.
Hogg tweeted, “Keep the house, get two more senators, abolish the filibuster, unpack the court Trump packed, codify Roe, pass climate reform, gun safety, criminal justice reform, massively expand ACA, ensure social security doesn’t run out of money and more. We must get two more Sen seats,” and all we can say is, good luck with all of that.
