As was expected, leftists are throwing a public tantrum now that Elon Musk is in control of Twitter.
Breitbart news reports that numerous Hollywood progressives have joined the tantrum, some have even vowed to leave the platform, and some already have.
Good-bye!
One such Hollywood elite who said that he is leaving the Musk-controlled Twitter platform is Ken Olin, the producer of NBC’s This Is Us. Breitbart reports that Olin “was among the first to declare his Twitter exodus.”
At midday on Friday, Olin tweeted:
Hey all – I’m out of here. No judgement. Let’s keep the faith. Let’s protect our democracy. Let’s try to be kinder. Let’s try to save the planet. Let’s try to be more generous. Let’s look to find peace in the world.
So far, it appears that Olin is being true to his word: he hasn’t posted any further tweets.
Breitbart reports that Alex Winter, of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, has also announced his departure from Twitter, writing, “In retrospect it was inevitable.” And, it appears that Winter may have even deleted his account, as it is no longer active.
While there are numerous leftists, like Olin and Winter, who have departed from Twitter, Breitbart reports that there are also leftists, such as Mia Farrow and Jameela Jamil, who promised to leave but are staying. And, there are other leftists, according to Fox Business, who are simply staying in defiance.
Why hate Musk?
It’s a good question, especially considering that, at one point, Musk was quite popular among the left.
The answer is twofold, at least.
For one, Leftists don’t like the fact that Musk is looking to return free speech to the platform by, in part, reversing the censorship of conservative voices. They don’t like the fact that, as a result, former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account is likely to be restored.
In addition, leftists don’t like that Musk has now self-identified politically with the center-right. And, they certainly don’t like the criticism that Musk has directed at the Democrats.
That’s really all there is to it. It goes to show, though, how far America has fallen. We now live in a country where a sizeable number of people are losing their minds at the prospect of a “center-right” individual restoring free speech to a social media platform.
