Gowdy, Bongino score weekend hosting gigs on Fox News

Fox News has just added two of conservative media’s biggest stars to its weekend lineup.

According to Mediaite, former U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and ex-Secret Service operative Dan Bongino have each been tapped to host their own weekend shows on Fox starting this summer.

“Seasoned perspective”

Fox said in a press release that Gowdy’s show, which will air Sundays at 7 p.m. ET starting in June, will allow the former congressman to “utilize his signature mixture of wisdom, humor, historical references, and insightful analysis to offer the audience a new outlook on the latest issues facing the country.”

“Capitalizing on his experiences as a former prosecutor and [c]hairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Gowdy will break down the latest legal and political news from across the nation and offer his seasoned perspective while providing viewers with the tools to draw their own conclusions,” Fox said in its statement, according to Mediaite.

The network went on:

The program will also feature timely, solution-oriented interviews with decision makers and Washington insiders, with bipartisanship as a pillar of dialogue. He will also spotlight original stories of triumph and success from across the country and highlight why Americans should be optimistic about the future.

According to the Daily Caller, Gowdy’s show “will replace a second airing of Fox News Sunday, anchored by Chris Wallace,” in the 7 p.m. time slot.

The South Carolina lawmaker first joined Fox as a contributor in early 2019, and has long hosted The Trey Gowdy Podcast for the network.

“Passionate and powerful voice”

According to the release from Fox, Bongino’s new show will air Saturdays at 10 p.m. ET.

Fox said in its own report that Bongino had joined its contributor roster in 2019, and in his new show, the former Secret Service agent “will tackle the week’s most pressing headlines, drawing on his experiences as a former law enforcement official to discuss Americans’ top priorities: liberty, security, and their families.”

Fox’s statement added: “Viewers can expect Bongino’s passionate and powerful voice on topics from policing to censorship. Each week he will feature stories and interviews that highlight community heroes like veterans and police officers on the front lines keeping America safe.”

Bongino’s show will take over a time slot previously held by Fox star Greg Gutfeld, who now hosts the highly rated Gutfeld! at 11 p.m. ET on weeknights, Fox said.

Fox has also cemented in its weekend lineup The Big Saturday Show and The Big Sunday Show, both panel-based programs that “were introduced on an experimental basis,” according to the Daily Caller, but now “have been permanently added to the schedule.”
