House GOP announce committee investigations into alleged Biden family corruption

Top House Republicans announced Thursday that, as promised, next year’s GOP-led committees would launch investigations into the questionable domestic and foreign business dealings of members of President Joe Biden’s family and the impact those deals may have had on national security.

In response, the White House dismissed the many allegations of potential wrongdoing by the president’s family as nothing more than “long-debunked conspiracy theories” unworthy of congressional focus, Fox News reported.

White House Counsel’s office spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement, “Instead of working with President Biden to address issues important to the American people, like lower costs, congressional Republicans’ top priority is to go after President Biden with politically motivated attacks chock full of long-debunked conspiracy theories.”

“President Biden is not going to let these political attacks distract him from focusing on Americans’ priorities, and we hope congressional Republicans will join us in tackling them instead of wasting time and resources on political revenge,” the spokesman added.

Committee investigations announced

Fox News reported separately earlier on Thursday on a press conference led by Reps. James Comer (R-KY) and Jim Jordan (R-OH), the likely incoming chairman of the House Oversight and House Judiciary Committees, respectively.

Comer claimed that gathered information suggested that the Biden family had “flourished and became millionaires by simply offering access to the family,” and pointedly asked, “Was Joe Biden directly involved with Hunter Biden’s business deals, and is he compromised? That’s our investigation.”

The press conference also announced the release of a 31-page interim report from House Oversight Committee Republicans on what was known thus far of alleged Biden family corruption and how that corruption may have compromised national security and the president himself.

Allegations of criminal behavior

Based on information from Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop and whistleblowers, it was alleged that there is “a decade-long pattern of influence peddling, national security risks, and political cover-ups” through which the Biden family enriched themselves by selling access to the family’s political patriarch.

“Committee Republicans’ investigation has uncovered evidence demonstrating deliberate, repeated deception of the American people, abuse of the Executive Branch for personal gain, use of government power to obstruct the investigation and prevent transparency, and potential violations of the United States Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause,” the report further alleged.

Fox News noted that House Republicans also revealed that they have already uncovered evidence of numerous alleged crimes, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S., money laundering, tax evasion, wire fraud, and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, among other things.

“Compromised” Biden a potential “threat to national security”

“Evidence obtained by Committee Republicans reveals Joe Biden lied to the American people about his involvement in his family’s business schemes. The Biden family business model is built on Joe Biden’s political career and connections with Joe Biden as the ‘chairman of the board,'” Rep. Comer said in a statement. “Biden family members sold access for profit around the world to the detriment of American interests. If President Biden is compromised by deals with foreign adversaries and they are impacting his decision-making, this is a threat to national security.”

“The American people deserve transparency and accountability about the Biden family’s influence peddling,” he added. “With the new Republican majority, Oversight Committee Republicans will continue pressing for answers to inform legislative solutions to prevent this abuse of power.”
