House GOP members asks for Hunter Biden’s testimony, sort of

Fox News reports that the Republicans on the House Oversight Committee have just invited Hunter Biden to testify during a hearing regarding the manufacture of electric vehicles.

The hearing is set to take place on April 5. The official title of the hearing is, “It’s Electric: Developing the Postal Service Fleet of the Future.”

April fools!

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the ranking Republican on the committee, made the request for Hunter Biden’s testimony in a letter that he sent to the committee’s chairwoman on April 1.

“House Committee on Oversight and Reform Republicans request the attendance and testimony of Hunter Biden at the April 5, 2022, hearing entitled, ‘It’s Electric: Developing the Postal Service Fleet of the Future,'” Comer wrote.

He continued: “Mr. Biden is well positioned to inform the Committee about issues pertaining to African cobalt mines — a metal which is essential in the manufacturing of electric vehicles.”

Comer then wrote that “an attorney representing Mr. Biden in connection with the FBI’s investigation of his taxes and foreign dealings is copied on this correspondence for your convenience.”

“Please confirm Mr. Biden’s invitation as soon as possible,” Comer concluded.

Background

You might be wondering, “What does Hunter Biden have to do with the post office switching to electric vehicles?”

In November 2021, The New York Times reported that Hunter Biden was “part-owner of a venture involved in the $3.8 billion purchase by a Chinese conglomerate of one of the world’s largest cobalt deposits.”

As Comer mentioned, cobalt is used in the manufacturing of electric vehicles. But, the bigger question here is how Hunter Biden became the part-owner of the venture, and this is the question that no one really knows the answer to.

The fact of the matter is that Hunter Biden appears to have held a number of positions over the years that he was not qualified to hold. This is only one example. A more well-known example is Hunter Biden being on the board of the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.

The suspicion is that Hunter Biden was able to get these jobs, not because of his expertise, but because of his father, Joe Biden’s, position in the U.S. government. Comer and the Republicans on the House Oversight Committee are likely trying to expose Hunter Biden. The request for his testimony is a way to bring attention to his questionable background.
