House Republicans are set to launch an investigation into Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings should they win back the majority in the midterm elections, Breitbart News reports.
House Oversight Committee Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) recently provided some insight into the situation. Comer will become the chairman of the Oversight Committee should the Republicans take back the House in November.
Comer provided the insights on Thursday while speaking with reporters at the U.S. Capitol.
“The reason we’re investigating Hunter Biden is because we believe he’s compromised Joe Biden,” Comer said.
The congressman continued, “we’ve already brought forth more evidence of wrongdoing with Hunter Biden in foreign countries than [Rep.] Adam Schiff ever brought forward with [former President] Donald Trump or [former Trump advisor] Jared Kushner or anyone else.”
Over the past several weeks, Comer has spent a lot of time discussing the investigation that House Republicans will launch into Hunter Biden should they reclaim the House. It’s one of many investigations that House Republicans have promised voters this election cycle.
Comer recently revealed that two whistleblowers have come forward who will help the Republicans with their investigation of Hunter Biden. The whistleblowers are believed to be former business associates of Biden.
Comer has explained some of what Republicans have already learned, saying:
What we know is that Hunter Biden’s company Hudson West III was negotiating a deal with the Chinese energy company CEFC to not only purchase American natural gas, but also to try to start purchasing interest in American drillers for natural gas so they can start to take control of the American natural gas industry through the drillers.
The big question
This, of course, is only a tiny part of Hunter Biden’s shady international dealings. More can be found here.
One of the big questions in all this is President Joe Biden’s involvement, if any. Biden has consistently claimed that he has denied ever speaking to Hunter Biden about his business. Still, evidence has called this into question, and the American people aren’t buying Biden’s story.
Another question altogether is what the House Republicans’ endgame plan is here. Would they, for example, be looking to impeach Biden? Time will tell.
First things first, though, which is winning the midterm elections. Republicans are still expected to win the House, but not by as much of a margin as initially expected. Democrats appear to be doing everything in their power to ensure it doesn’t happen.
