While Democrats have long attempted to link former President Donald Trump with Russia, a new report suggests that it is actually a member of the Biden family who has ominous ties to the country.
According to a recent New York Post article, Hunter Biden met with four Russian oligarchs while his father was vice president. What’s more, one of those men has since been accused of murder.
Businessman said to have killed two rivals
Published on Saturday, the piece details how in 2017 the Investigative Committee of Russia alleged that Telman Ismailov paid $2 million to orchestrate the killing of rival oligarchs Vladimir Savkin and Yury Brilev.
Both were killed on the Novorizhskoye highway in Moscow, with their deaths said to come in retaliation for their role in a business dispute with Ismailov.
Ismailov subsequently fled the country, with The Moscow Times reporting this past October that he was granted asylum in Montenegro where his son owns a casino.
The Post article states that Hunter Biden met with Ismailov on February 17, 2012, at the Moscow headquarters of a holding company he owned.
Biden’s laptop shows he met with three other oligarchs
It goes on to assert that records found on Biden’s abandoned laptop show he also met with Sergey Chemezov, Vladimir Yevtushenkov, and Samuel S. Karapetyan, all of whom are major figures within Russia’s business community.
It is not clear why Biden was meeting with the oligarchs, but Security Studies Group president Jim Hanson says the reason is obvious.
“The only reason someone — other than a crack dealer or a hooker — would want to meet Hunter Biden is to get to his dad,” Hanson was quoted as telling the Post.
“They were selling access, it was their business model. The Biden family was involved in capitalizing on Joe’s political career,” Hanson said.
Meanwhile, New York Rep. Nicolle Malliotakis told the paper that Republicans are planning to get more answers following this year’s midterm elections.
“When Republicans take back the House in January, the Biden family’s shady association with Russia and China must be investigated,” the GOP lawmaker promised, adding, “Perhaps Hunter’s relationships with foreign nationals explain why the Biden Administration has an ‘America Last’ foreign policy.”
