Hunter Biden thumbs his nose at House Republicans

Hunter Biden's lawyers dismissed a request for records from House Republican investigators who are looking into the Biden family's overseas business deals.

The Biden legal team told Republicans on the House Oversight panel that their demands had no legitimate legislative purpose, the Hill reported.

Republicans request Biden records

House Oversight chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) had asked Hunter Biden to provide all communications with his father pertaining to the web of companies and businessmen Hunter has transacted with, including the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings, along with all relevant financial records.

"Evidence shows that you engaged in foreign business deals with individuals who were connected to the Chinese Communist Party and received significant amounts of money from foreign companies without providing any known legitimate services," the letter says.

Comer also asked for any classified documents in Hunter's possession and any information relating to the Penn Biden Center, a think tank with alleged China ties that has come into the spotlight after classified records from Joe Biden's vice presidency were found there.

Hunter Biden dismisses request

Comer also sent letters to Hunter's uncle and business partner James Biden and Eric Schwerin, another business partner. They were asked to respond by February 22.

President Biden has long been accused of using his son as a bagman to enrich the Biden family with foreign influence peddling schemes in countries like China and Ukraine. Biden has denied it all, despite a trove of incriminating evidence on Hunter's notorious, abandoned "laptop from hell."

Hunter Biden's lawyer Abbe David Lowell blew off the GOP's oversight request as a partisan attack with no "legitimate legislative purpose."

"Peddling your own inaccurate and baseless conclusions under the guise of a real investigation, turns the Committee into ‘Wonderland’ and you into the Queen of Hearts shouting, ‘sentence first, verdict afterwards,’” Lowell wrote.

Stonewalling

Republicans have said that the Hunter Biden scandal is not just about the president's son -- it implicates his father and raises serious questions about national security.

The Oversight Committee ripped Hunter's lawyers for "stonewalling" a valid inquiry.

“It’s no surprise that Hunter Biden is trying to stonewall Congress’ oversight and hide information about Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s suspicious business practices,” the committee said.

“The American people demand transparency and oversight, not political coverups."

What is Hunter Biden afraid of?
