A pair of Republican-led Senate committees released a report this week documenting behavior by Hunter Biden that many say indicates he was involved in potential corruption, conflicts of interest, and questionable financial activities involving foreign associates and corporations.
Of course, many in the Democrat Party and across the mainstream media played down the report’s significance — and Naomi Biden, the daughter of Hunter Biden and granddaughter of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, posted a lengthy social media threat in defense of her father, as reported by the Washington Examiner.
“Questionable financial transactions”
The recent report was compiled following a joint investigation headed by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Finance Committee.
Their findings focused on “millions of dollars in questionable financial transactions between Hunter Biden and his associates and foreign individuals.”
As expected, the report detailed his seat on the board of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, a position for which he was well compensated.
Additional revelations found in the report included Biden’s apparent financial links to dubious foreign nationals, including a $3.5 million payment from the widow of a wealthy Russian oligarch and millions more as part of business deals with individuals tied to the Chinese Communist Party and People’s Liberation Army.
Furthermore, the report cites financial correlations with what was described as an “Eastern European prostitution or human trafficking ring” as well as possible evidence that other family members were also involved in questionable financial dealings.
“He has not lost his purpose”
For her part, Naomi Biden asserted in her statement that the attacks on her father are antithetical to the man she has grown up to know and love.
“Though the whole world knows his name, no one knows who he is,” she tweeted. “Here’s a thread on my dad, Hunter Biden — free of charge to the taxpayers and free of the corrosive influence of power-at-all-costs politics.”
She went on to describe him as a “man filled with love, integrity, and human struggles,” emphasizing the relationship he had with her late uncle and his brother, Beau Biden.
“The pain he has endured would be enough to make a lesser man give up on life all together,” she wrote in conclusion. “But despite the best efforts of an cruel few to destroy a private man, he is sober, happy, and as at peace as ever today because as long his family needs him, he has not lost his purpose.”
Of course, her statement did little to discredit the substance of the report released this week. Few would doubt a daughter’s love and devotion to her father — but many American voters are more interested in getting to the bottom of some serious allegations.
