Hunter Biden, son of presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, could ultimately prove to be a substantial stumbling block in the way of his father’s presidential aspirations, considering the numerous controversies that continue to surround him.
A photograph recently surfaced that appears to show Hunter Biden at a 2014 state dinner smiling and seated alongside a man accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy, The National Pulse reported exclusively.
That man is Terry Bean, a formerly prominent Democratic Party donor and gay rights activist who now faces multiple felony charges of sodomy and sexual abuse against a minor.
The image obtained by The National Pulse shows Hunter Biden and his then-wife Kathleen — they have since divorced — seated at a table with Bean at a 2014 formal state dinner held in honor of then-French President Francois Hollande.
Bean’s attendance at the prestigious dinner was confirmed by a guest list published by the Chicago Tribune at the time, and his presence at Hunter Biden’s table was seemingly confirmed by Bean’s sister, who, according to the Pulse, had remarked about the event on her own website, “Beautiful food and good dinner table company, Hunter and Kathleen Biden, made for a memorable evening for all.”
It is worth noting that not just anybody receives an invitation to a state dinner, and plum seating positions come at a premium. Given that Bean was seated next to then-Vice President Joe Biden’s son, the arrangement suggests something of a close and influential relationship, according to The National Pulse.
A sordid affair
Of course, some would say that it is not terribly unusual to see a vice president’s son seated together with an influential political activist and campaign contributor.
The problem is that the donor in question — who was apparently so well-respected that he was honored with such a prime seat at the event — was arrested just a few months later and charged criminally with multiple felony counts related to the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old boy. Bean and his then-boyfriend reportedly met the alleged victim on Grindr, a gay dating app, The National Pulse reported.
The National Pulse further noted that the case against Bean was dismissed a short time later after the young victim declined to testify and went into hiding. However, the victim resurfaced in 2019, according to The Oregonian, ready to press the case against Bean and his accomplice, Kiah Loy Lawson, Bean’s young boyfriend at the time.
The boy, now an adult, took the stand at Lawson’s portion of the trial and related that he had been picked up by Lawson and Bean and taken to a hotel room where sexual acts were performed, after which he was sent home in a cab. He further revealed that he was paid roughly $220,000 by Bean and sent to live quietly in a mountain cabin, hence his disappearance over the prior five years, The Oregonian noted.
The National Pulse reported that Bean’s trial on the sexual abuse charges has yet to be settled and appears to have been “stalled” by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Regardless, there remain several questions that deserve to be answered by Hunter Biden — not to mention Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama — about why Bean was invited to the state dinner and what was known of his felonious sexual trysts with underage boys at that time.
