‘I’d be in jail’: Trump Jr. decries double standard as Hunter Biden’s business dealings face renewed scrutiny

President Donald Trump’s eldest son said Wednesday that if he had been involved in the shady business deals currently causing problems for Hunter Biden, he’d “be in jail right now.”

According to Breitbart, Donald Trump, Jr.’s comments came during an episode of Fox News’ Hannity, where he blasted Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden’s 50-year-old son for allegedly leveraging “his father’s vice presidency” for profit.

Report raises questions

The remarks from Don Jr. come just days after a new report was released by a pair of Republican-led Senate committees that raise serious questions about Hunter Biden’s business dealings.

As The Federalist noted on Wednesday, the report alleges that the younger Biden “sent thousands of dollars to individuals who have either: 1) been involved in transactions consistent with possible human trafficking; 2) an association with the adult entertainment industry; or 3) potential association with prostitution.”

The report also alleges that Hunter Biden was the recipient of “a $3.5 million wire transfer from Elena Baturina, the wife of the former mayor of Moscow.”

He is also said to have “had business associations with Ye Jianming, Gongwen Dong, and other Chinese nationals linked to the Communist government and the People’s Liberation Army” that, according to Senate Republicans, “resulted in millions of dollars in cash flow.”

“It wouldn’t be pretty”

Speaking about the report’s contents in an interview with Fox’s Sean Hannity, Trump Jr. said the situation would be very different if the shoe were on the other foot.

“Sean, it wouldn’t be pretty,” Trump Jr. said Wednesday, according to Breitbart. “I’d be in jail right now.”

The president’s eldest son pointed in particular to the allegations involving China and the Kremlin, which he said ought to be taken more seriously by congressional investigators.

“They’re not worried about China at all; according to Joe, it’s not a threat,” Trump Jr. said, according to Breitbart. “So, $1.5 billion to Hunter from China, which translates roughly to about $30 million a year in fees in a typical fund model, $30 million a year to Hunter, that’s no big deal. But what about the $3.5 million from the wife of the former mayor of Moscow? … If that’s not Russia collusion, I don’t know what is.”

But will the Bidens ever face accountability? The president’s son won’t be holding his breath.

“If I did one-one hundredth of what Hunter has done and continues to do sitting on the boards of these Chinese companies today, shipping jobs from places like Michigan and Wisconsin, back over to China for the automotive company, et cetera, if I did one-one hundredth of it, Sean, I’d be in jail, and it’d be the biggest news story of the decade,” Don Jr. said, according to Breitbart. “We’d hear about it every day asking Donald Trump to drop out of the race.”
