Ingraham calls for probe into possible ‘secret’ deal between Biden and Taliban

President Joe Biden has faced calls for investigations into various aspects of his administration.

As a recent example, Fox News Channel host Laura Ingraham argued on Tuesday during the monologue of The Ingraham Angle that Republicans should look into a possible “secret deal” the president had with the Taliban.

“Very odd”

“What was going on that none of Biden’s top Cabinet officials were with him at this pivotal time?” she asked in reference to the latest chapter in a chaotic troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. “Just extended alone time with Jill? Very odd.”

Ingraham’s remarks came in the wake of a meeting on Monday between CIA Director William Burns and top Taliban leader Mullah Baradar.

No information was immediately provided about the meeting, but Biden shortly thereafter announced that he would not seek to extend an approaching deadline for troop withdrawal even if Americans seeking evacuation were left behind. The president has faced pressure from both sides of the aisle to extend the deadline until all Americans are evacuated.

The Taliban signaled that it would allow Americans to leave even after the Tuesday deadline, but many U.S. officials are skeptical.

Taliban members are said to be assisting with the evacuation at the international airport in the capital city of Kabul and some have reportedly helped with crowd control. Of course, Ingraham and others want to know the true motivation for the apparent assistance.

“So fraught with lies”

“It’s hard to believe the Taliban just did this out of the goodness of their hearts,” the Fox News host concluded. “This entire scenario has been so fraught with lies and misrepresentations that we just don’t know what to think.”

As ABC News reported, thousands of people are waiting inside the airport and 10,000 more around it waiting for a chance to flee Afghanistan. Roughly 6,000 military troops are assigned with the task of keeping the airport open and operating during the chaos.

Many of those crowded into the area have spent days there with little food or water. Troops have distributed some supplies but are ill-equipped for the number of individuals they are encountering.

It is unclear what type of “deal” Ingraham believes there might be between the Biden administration and the Taliban, it now appears that one might be necessary to avoid a potential hostage situation involving any of the Americans left behind.

Any deal with the Taliban at this point might as well be a deal with the devil.
