IRS stealth-edits job posting that mentioned agents using ‘deadly force’

An Internal Revenue Service job posting that mentioned agents needing to use “deadly force” went viral Wednesday, fueling fears of an armed shakedown of the middle-class.

Eerily enough, the post was quietly edited to remove the “deadly force” language after it drew attention on social media.

IRS job listing causes alarm

The IRS would receive another $80 billion to hire another 87,000 agents once President Biden’s new social spending bill, the Inflation Reduction Act, becomes law.

Biden and his allies claim the massive expansion would target wealthy tax dodgers, but it has led to concern the middle-class will be targeted. For many, a job listing that called for agents to be prepared to deploy “deadly force” only reinforced those worries.

The original posting mentioned that special agents would need to be licensed to carry a firearm and able to use “deadly force, if necessary.” The post was apparently taken down, but then resurfaced with the “deadly force” phrasing taken out. Creepy.

Ford Fischer, who initially drew attention to the job posting, shared a side-by-side comparison between the two versions of the listing.

Speculation builds of regime crackdown

The IRS issued a statement denying the listing had been removed.

“The IRS Criminal Investigation special agent job announcement continues to be open on USAJobs and has not/was not taken down. USAJobs is where these positions are posted and where applicants are referred to in order to apply.”

Many on the right could not help drawing a troubling connection between the massive IRS expansion and the unprecedented, draconian FBI raid Monday on the home of former President Trump by agents working for his top rival, Joe Biden.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R) sounded the alarm on a crackdown by the “regime” against Biden’s political opponents.

“Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic,” he said.
