Tensions have escalated in recent days amid an increase in rocket attacks against Israel by militants in Palestine.
As reported by the Daily Wire, Israel responded with military might and has taken out one of the top Hamas commanders in the process.
“In charge of carrying out anti-tank missile attacks”
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the operation in a tweet, explaining: “We just killed the commander of the Hamas anti-tank missile unit, Iyad Fathi Faik Sharir. He was in charge of carrying out anti-tank missile attacks on Israel.”
Palestinian riots across multiple Israeli cities earlier this week led to a confrontation between the two nations that included roughly 1,000 incoming rockets aimed at Israel that killed several people and injured many more.
Israel wasted no time responding on Monday with raids aimed at strategic targets across the border.
“Overnight, in response to continuous rocket fire from the Gaza Strip at Israeli territory, the IDF struck over 130 terror targets belonging to terror organizations in the Gaza Strip,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
Israel’s response continued in subsequent days with the IDF issuing another statement to announce that it had taken out even more high-ranking Palestinian terrorists.
“The world is getting more violent”
“Our fighter jets, with the ISA, neutralized key figures of Hamas’ intelligence: Hassan Kaogi, head of the Hamas military intelligence security department & his deputy Wail Issa, head of the military intelligence counterespionage department,” the statement added. “Looks like our intel was better.”
According to Axios, Israel has called on the Biden administration to stay out of the conflict. The U.S. president made a request for both sides to exercise restraint.
Former President Donald Trump weighed in by placing some of the blame on his successor.
“Under Biden, the world is getting more violent and more unstable because Biden’s weakness and lack of support for Israel is leading to new attacks on our allies,” he said.
Trump asserted that his term in the White House resulted in the understanding among Israel’s enemies “that the United States stood strongly with Israel and there would be swift retribution if Israel was attacked,” insisting that the U.S. “must always stand with Israel and make clear that the Palestinians must end the violence, terror, and rocket attacks, and make clear that the U.S. will always strongly support Israel’s right to defend itself.”
