Ivanka, Eric Trump targeted in new recordings released by the president’s niece: Report

Donald Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, released audio recordings on Friday that appear to show the president’s sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, bashing him and his children, the Washington Examiner reported. It’s the second set of such recordings that have been released within a week’s time.

According to the Examiner, Trump Barry said on the recordings that she couldn’t blame comedy news host Samantha Bee for calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless c***” in 2018. She then called Eric Trump a “moron” and “tight as a duck’s a**,” “just like his father was.”

On Aug. 23, another recording was released in which Trump Barry said that the president only wants to “appeal to his base,” NBC News reported. “He has no principles,” she added. “None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.”

Maryanne Trump Barry also called the president a liar who “doesn’t read.”

“Just another day”

President Trump has not spoken publicly about his sister Maryanne except to express respect and admiration for her work as a federal judge, even when she was reported to be critical of him.

Still, the president’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, told NBC News that Trump Barry’s comments about her brother were “just not true” after the initial recording was released last week.

“The president is not only well-prepared but reads so much that it causes me to have to read many times well into the night to catch up with him,” Meadows said, according to NBC.

He went on: “Just another day and another attack that we continue to see.”

“An unstable niece”

The president has publicly berated his niece for writing a tell-all book about him, and he slammed Mary Trump again on Saturday, according to Slate. The recordings she released — 15 hours worth — were created in secret and used in the book.

In a tweet Saturday, the president characterized Mary as “an unstable niece” who is “now rightfully shunned, scorned and mocked her entire life, and never even liked by her own very kind [and] caring grandfather!”

Of course, it’s impossible to know what exactly is behind Mary Trump’s vicious attacks on the president and whether there is any truth to her claims, but why would anyone secretly record a family member bashing other family members and then release it to the public?

The president has close relationships with all of his children and they have not spoken ill of him. Would that be the case if he was really as bad as Mary Trump was making him out to be? Or is she just trying to cash in on the ubiquitous Trump-hate in leftist pop culture?
