Jay Leno recovering from severe facial burns after garage fire

Retired late-night comedian Jay Leno is recovering from severe burns that occurred during a Sunday vehicle fire in the Burbank, California garage that houses his collection of vintage vehicles.

Leno was taken to Grossman Burn Center after one of his cars suddenly burst into flames, burning the left side of his face, the Daily Caller reported.

However, according to sources, his eye and ear were not seriously harmed by the flames.

“I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire,” Leno said in a statement to The Associated Press. “I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”

Leno’s situation

Leno was scheduled to attend the Financial Brand Forum 2022 in Las Vegas this week, but had to cancel his appearance.

It was not immediately clear how long Leno’s recovery will take or whether the burns will cause permanent damage.

Auto Tech Portal said that Leno owns 182 cars and 160 motorcycles worth a total of about $52 million, but noted that the number could change because Leno frequently buys and sells cars and motorcycles.

His garage at the Burbank Airport is not open to the public, but he did put a virtual tour on YouTube that anyone can view.

He loves cars

Leno has a net worth of $452 million, gained from his work as a comedian and late-night talk show host over many years, as well as a few guest-starring roles on TV shows like Last Man Standing.

He started collecting vehicles in earnest after retiring from The Tonight Show in 2009.

Reportedly, his favorite car is the 1972 Mercedes-Benz 600 Kompressor, and his favorite car company is McLaren.
