Yet another positive COVID test at the Biden White House has scrambled the administration’s messaging of a smooth pandemic recovery.
Just like her husband before her, first Lady Jill Biden is experiencing a so-called COVID “rebound,” the New York Post reported.
Jill Biden tests positive for COVID, again
This is Jill Biden’s second positive test since August 16, when she initially tested positive while on vacation in South Carolina.
Her office said she is currently asymptomatic and that she will isolate in Delaware. Her husband, who returned from vacation to “work” at the White House on Wednesday, remains negative.
Like her husband, Jill is quadruple-vaccinated. She has been treated with the Pfizer anti-viral Paxlovid, which has been associated with so-called “rebound” cases.
In July, Joe Biden tested positive — then tested negative, and then tested positive again, despite taking four of the shots.
The positive tests have embarrassed Biden, who last year declared COVID a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” and imposed vaccine mandates to coerce those refusing the shot.
Pandemic of the what?
The positive tests also belie Biden’s midterm campaign message that he is getting the pandemic under control, as he promised to do on the campaign trail in 2020.
Even as he boasts of progress made against COVID, Biden says an ongoing pandemic “emergency” gives him the authority to wipe $10,000 in student loan debt per borrower at a stroke of the executive pen, a controversial and legally questionable claim that has been met with immediate backlash.
Despite Biden’s “emergency” claim, he has been known to follow his own administration’s COVID guidance rather loosely.
In the latest example, Biden was instructed to wear a mask when indoors and in close proximity to other people after his wife’s positive test.
On the very day his wife tested positive, Biden was seen coughing into his hand and generously spreading germs at a bill signing.
