Jim Acosta to be next to go at CNN, Discovery executive says

An unnamed Discovery executive told former Mediaite managing editor Jim Nicosia that far-left CNN host Jim Acosta will be the next person to leave the network amid a major shake-up and a move to a more centrist position after the departure of long-time CEO and president Jeff Zucker.

“He does not have a place in the new CNN. He reminds us of the Zucker period we are looking to move far from. The only reason he is still on air was not to look like we were ‘cleaning house’ for political reasons right after the closing,” the Discovery executive said.

“The person this Discovery exec was talking about is Jim Acosta,” Nicosia tweeted. “CNN (like they did when I reported about Stelter being let go) will be to defend the person. That’s what network PR people do. Keep in mind many of the recent people let go had big support within the network but did not fit into the ‘middle ground’ vision CNN is being pushed into.”

Nicosia wasn’t sure how much of a fight Acosta would put up before his departure.

Stay tuned

“Since Acosta was the main Trump lightning rod between the ‘old’ CNN and the new owners future vision he will either go quick, or with a lot of internal pushback. Stay tuned,” he said

While Acosta is a major departure, Nicosia made it clear that he would not be the last CNN employee to be let go.

“One important thing that this executive wanted to stress is they are nowhere near done, and Acosta won’t be the last of the ‘old guard’ to go, but this ‘takes time’ and ‘they’re getting an incredible amount of internal push back from people who want to stay a resistance network,’” he said.

It has to have been fun for the far-leftists at CNN to come up with new ways to attack Republicans and especially former President Donald Trump, but recent their recent ratings have shown that there’s no profit in doing so.

A lawsuit

CNN is also being sued by Trump for hundreds of millions of dollars for purposely ruining his reputation and trying to keep him from running for president again in 2024.

“A lawsuit was filed today against CNN, the once prestigious news channel that has devolved into a purveyor of disinformation, defamation, and Fake News, at a level which the American Public, and indeed the World, will not even believe is possible,” Trump posted Monday to his Truth Social platform.

“The time has finally come to hold CNN responsible and legally accountable for their willful deception and defamatory statements made about me,” he added.

“President Donald J. Trump, has been a long-time critic of the defendant, Cable News Network, Inc. (‘CNN’) — not because CNN does a bad job of reporting the news, but because CNN seeks to create the news,” the lawsuit said.
