Throughout a lengthy campaign season, Democratic Party operatives were singularly focused on removing President Donald Trump from office.
As ballots were still being counted in the days after Election Day, however, some on the left — including ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel — expressed their desire to see him behind bars, as reported by Breitbart.
“A different type of concession speech”
During Thursday’s installment of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the anti-Trump host took issue with the president’s decision to deliver remarks from the White House earlier in the evening.
“Well, that’s a different type of concession speech,” he began. “This was — I won’t bore you or give him the pleasure of showing what he said tonight.”
He went on to compare Trump unfavorably to Russia’s dictatorial president, saying: “But the only thing he didn’t do is pull off his wig and reveal that he’s been Vlad Putin all along.”
Although the election would not be officially called for Democratic nominee Joe Biden for two more days, Kimmel’s remarks made Trump’s loss sound like a foregone conclusion.
“It was a litany of lies, threats, just a despicable and incoherent attack on democracy in the United States,” he said of Trump’s speech.
“Flame-broiled for good”
Based on his distaste for the president’s rhetoric, Kimmel asserted: “At the end of that speech, he should have been arrested.”
The verbal attack built on that wild allegation with an array of ad hominem opprobrium.
“They’re still counting the votes, whether Donald Trump likes it or not,” Kimmel added. “But it would appear that our Burger King has been flame-broiled for good. We are watching a presidency bleed out in real time. By the way, a lot of ballots that come in after Election Day are from our troops serving overseas, and the irony of a draft-dodger trying to negate those votes is more delicious than the 12 little dunk-cups of honey mustard he dipped his McNuggets in today.”
Of course, he was not alone among leftist loudmouths occupying the nation’s airwaves.
Former ESPN personality Keith Olbermann had a similar reaction to Trump’s remarks on Thursday: “TRUMP MUST BE REMOVED AND ARRESTED, TONIGHT. Gripped by a paranoid delusion, threatening the nation’s safety, this can’t wait any longer. It won’t happen; in fact he’ll probably concede and instantly announce he’s running in ’24.”
