Former President Donald Trump warned oil and gas workers that current President Joe Biden would come for their jobs. And just days into Biden’s presidency, his predecessor is being proven correct.
The new president has launched what some are likening to a “deliberate” attack on America’s economy, eliminating thousands of livelihoods with his climate change agenda, as the Daily Caller reports.
A major blow to energy independence
Trump, a strong advocate of fossil fuels and “energy independence,” memorably accused Biden of harboring a job-killing agenda on the campaign trail.
“Biden has promised to abolish the production of American oil, coal, shale, and natural gas — laying waste to the economies of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Colorado, and New Mexico,” Trump said at the Republican National Convention in August, according to MarketWatch.
Biden infamously equivocated against these attacks, but his actions since entering the Oval Office demonstrate that Trump was right on the money.
On the first day of his administration, Biden canceled a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, a decision that instantly eliminated some 1,000 jobs, with tens of thousands more placed at risk, the Daily Caller noted. The president continued this week with a pause on new leases for oil and gas on federal lands.
“Wrong-headed climate policy”
Critics say that he is dealing reckless harm to the economy in the pursuit of unattainable climate dreams. “Joe Biden, through his wrong-headed climate policy, has unleashed a job destruction pandemic on the American people,” James Taylor, of the libertarian Heartland Institute, said, according to the Daily Caller.
Biden: Magic “green” jobs to fall out of tree
In the meantime, Biden says that America has no choice but to go down this road, saying that the country is at an “existential” moment, as The Guardian notes.
The president is promising that new “green” jobs will fall out of a tree at some point, a story that many Americans have heard before, as jobs vanished to China for decades and never came back. Biden’s climate “czar” John Kerry put things in blunter terms, telling laid-off workers to find new jobs in the solar industry, Fox News reported.
Back in August, Trump gave an unsparing portrait of Biden’s character, describing him as a double-dealer who cheated the working-class for years:
For 47 years, Joe Biden took the donations of blue-collar workers, gave them hugs and even kisses, and told them he felt their pain — and then he flew back to Washington and voted to ship their jobs to China and many other distant lands.
