Joe Biden says he met with Xi Jinping 68 times

Joe Biden admitted to meeting dozens of times "alone" with Chinese President Xi Jinping while he was vice president.

Biden told a crowd in Chicago that he "spent a lot of time" with Xi when they were vice presidents of their respective countries.

To be exact, Biden said he met with Xi 68 times - an oddly specific claim for a man as lost and confused as Biden often appears to be.

Biden cops to Xi meetings

Biden claimed it would have been "inappropriate" for President Obama to spend time with Xi.

He added, "we knew" that Xi, who became president midway through Obama's presidency in 2012, "was gonna be the successor."

"I've traveled 17,000 miles with him. I've spoke with him more than any other head of state because it started when I was vice president and President Hu was the president and he [Xi] was the vice president. We knew he was gonna be the successor."

"It was inappropriate for Barack to spend that time… but I spent a lot of time with him," he continued. "I met alone with him – just he and I and a simultaneous interpreter – 68 times, 68 hours, 68 times, more than 68 hours."

"The big guy"

Biden's strange comments elicited a response from Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, who have been working to unravel the Biden family's tangle of overseas business ties.

"Of course President Biden met with Xi Jinping 68 times," they tweeted. "CCP-linked companies were the Bidens’ best clients."

A newly unearthed text message shows Hunter Biden threatened a Chinese business partner to fulfill an agreement. Biden appears to reference his father in the message.

“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled," Hunter wrote.

Old man sows confusion

Biden's foreign policy toward China has been criticized by Republicans as weak, with some insinuating he has a conflict of interest.

The president has sought to de-escalate with Beijing as tensions spiral over Taiwan and a spy balloon that traveled across the United States, making it all the way to the east coast before Biden shot it down.

Despite touting a "thaw" between the U.S. and China, Biden called Xi Jinping a "dictator" in recent remarks, sowing confusion about his foreign policy.
