Republican Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) is calling on Joe Biden’s Homeland Security chief to resign over his failure, or outright refusal, to protect America’s sovereign borders from foreign invasion.
In a letter, Hawley blasted Alejandro Mayorkas for his seemingly deliberate “abdication of responsibility” as the latest data shows over 2 million illegals have entered the country this fiscal year, with one month to go.
Hawley calls for Mayorkas to resign
By now, it has become clear that Mayorkas has “no intention of enforcing our immigration laws,” Hawley wrote.
The senator pointed to past comments from Mayorkas saying that his “plan” for immigration was “working.” Hawley suggested that the disaster at the border is a “success” in Mayorkas’ eyes and the predictable result of Biden’s open border agenda.
“So let me ask you again, exactly one year later, was this your plan? Do you consider 2 million illegal immigrants crossing our border to be a success? Sadly, I think you do. This was the predictable result of your open border policies. Your intentional disregard for our country’s immigration laws makes you unfit to remain in office. You should resign,” Hawley wrote.
The senator also noted that a lack of border security is allowing potential terrorists and lethal drugs like fentanyl to pour into the country, with deadly consequences.
“Your total abdication of responsibility to secure the border has consequences. It has resulted in a record 78 individuals on a terror watchlist entering our country this year alone.”
Dereliction of duty
Biden’s government has admitted to releasing over 1 million illegal immigrants into the country, yet the administration has yet to acknowledge there is a problem.
Far from it, vice president Kamala Harris recently made the preposterous assertion that the border is “secure.” Mayorkas, meanwhile, has routinely complained that he inherited a “broken” immigration system.
If anyone is breaking the system, it’s Mayorkas. He clearly has no interest in enforcing the immigration laws, instead shifting the DHS’ focus to policing Biden’s domestic opponents.
Apparently, that’s what Mayorkas thinks “homeland security” means.
He even chose to commemorate the September 11, 2001, terror attacks by claiming that amorphous “domestic extremists” have become America’s biggest threat, echoing Biden’s divisive comments about “MAGA Republicans.” Scary.
