A federal judge on Monday issued a nationwide injunction against the Biden administration’s mask mandate for public transportation, including commercial airliners, buses, and trains, as the strict requirement was determined to have exceeded the government’s authority.
The news was quickly shared with passengers by airline employees, flight attendants, and pilots, and was greeted in large part by applause and cheers from those passengers who were more than happy to remove their face coverings, Breitbart reported.
Social media was shortly thereafter flooded with pictures and video clips of the moments when the news was shared and celebrated on various flights or near boarding gates in airports, undoubtedly to the dismay of the Biden administration and those who have insisted for two years that mask-wearing was vital for modes of public transportation.
Cheers and applause
In one video from a Delta flight, loud cheers and applause and laughter erupted as a member of the flight crew announced that masks were now optional for both passengers and crew.
Another video from an Alaska Airlines flight featured the pilot offering up a “congratulations” to his passengers after announcing that, effective immediately, they were no longer required to wear face masks — an announcement that was also met with cheers and clapping.
Of course, not everybody was thrilled at the news, as evidenced by a clip of the reaction to the announcement being made by a Southwest Airlines gate agent at a Washington D.C. airport, where some sat in glum silence while others expressed their happiness with the news.
This @SouthwestAir gate agent was so excited to tell everyone that SW officially dropped the mask mandate. But because DC is a leftist cesspool, the crowd—aside from me and like two other people—did not meet his excitement level. Oh well SO HAPPY TO FLY MASKLESS. pic.twitter.com/1zxj88cVYx

Joyous emotions run high
For some airline employees, the news that masks were no longer strictly required was one that prompted an emotional response after having endured the federally-imposed mandate put in place shortly after the pandemic first began in 2020.
One flight attendant quite clearly choked up and nearly burst into tears of happiness as she noted that this was the first time in two years that she had been able to take off her mask and show her face to her passengers on a flight.
Plane applauded as the stewardess announced the end of the mandate. She broke into tears as she got to take off her mask for the first time in 2 years 😭 pic.twitter.com/WlCpZk30QM

Perhaps the most joyous reaction seen thus far came from a flight attendant who, bearing a plastic trash bag, broke into song as he happily walked down the aisle and encouraged everyone to “throw away your masks!” — a sentiment that millions of travelers certainly agree with.
