Judge Jeanine rips ‘woke activist athlete’ Gwen Berry’s national anthem protest

Olympic hammer thrower Gwen Berry made headlines last week for turning her back as the “Star-Spangled Banner” was played during a post-event ceremony, while later saying, “The anthem doesn’t speak for me. It never has.”

According to Fox News, Berry’s actions elicited widespread criticism, including from Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro. During a segment on her show, Justice with Judge Jeanine, the fired-up former New York state judge slammed Berry as a “woke activist athlete.”

No gratitude

In her monologue, Pirro complained that the athlete lacks gratitude for the opportunities afforded to her simply by being an American, arguing that Berry is “living the American dream.”

“Tomorrow, as we celebrate Independence Day, sadly in our country, it is far too common to see people who don’t respect our national anthem or our flag,” Pirro said, according to Fox.

The Fox News host added: “So this week, we see another woke activist athlete who turns her back on the American flag and is outraged that the national anthem is playing as she is recognized for hammer throwing at the Olympic trials in Oregon.”

It’s an “upside-down world”

Pirro then took issue with those who defended Berry for her blatantly anti-American shenanigans, some of whom alleged that criticism leveled at the Black hammer thrower was motivated by racial bigotry.

“Now, in the upside-down world we live in, if you criticize this woman for turning her back on the American Flag, you’re a racist or unamerican for not supporting her free speech,” Pirro charged.

Pirro slams Joy Behar

Pirro went on to single out comedian and The View co-host Joy Behar for suggesting that Berry’s actions were somehow patriotic.

“Now, my favorite, Joy Behar, however, insists that this activist athlete is fulfilling her patriotic duty by protesting… Joy, she’s not hurting anybody?” Pirro asked.

The former judge added: “She’s hurting every man and woman whose blood was spilled for that flag, including patriotic Black men and women, who chose to enlist and chose to fight for what you find so repulsive.”

“She is hurting every parent who lost a child, every spouse who lost a loved one, every child growing up without a father, and every veteran who can’t stand up because he lost his legs,” Pirro noted.

Breitbart reported that Behar’s comments came in response to criticism from Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), a former U.S. Navy SEAL who said, “We don’t need any more activist athletes. She should be removed from the team. The entire point of the Olympic team is to represent the United States of America.”

    1. Agree. Also if she disrespects the USA she has no place on the Olymics as they must support the country they play for. She should be given a one way ticket to the country of her choice and leave the USA.

  7. I have lots family to wars too and this Black Gwen needs to maybe go back to Africa and see if she can be proud there. Live like they do and then see how she would feel, after all it is her country. Her own people sold them to America, we did not look for them.

We don’t owe them any more than anyone of us whose family came to America to find a better life and freedom. We did not bring slaves with us, we were the slaves then.

  8. IF GWEN BARRY DOESN’T WANT TO REPRESENT THE UNITED STATES IN THE OLYMPIC, THEN SHE SHOULD WEAR SOME OTHER IDENTITY AND NOT THE EXPENSE OF THE AMERICAN OLYMPIC TEAM.

SHE COULD REPRESENT THE BLACK AFRICANS OF UNITED STATES . BLM AND THIS ORGANIZATION WHOULD SHOULDER ALL THE EXPENSE.

  9. My last paycheck was $2500 for working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 8k for months now and ADt she works about 30 hours a week. and I can’t believe how easy it was once I tried it out. The potential with this is endless.

  10. We need a pledged contract from all American performers; that they will perform in these thousands of centuries old games on behalf of America. If you want to represent America, then you will pledge your loyalty to her, and will not degrade, nor disrespect her in any way. It is an honor and a privilege to compete as an exceptional American competitor. And if victorious, you will not use the platform to dishonor and disdain her. If you do, your medal will be confiscated.

  11. I agree with most of what was said here. I served in a peace time Air Force for the United States of America and I currently serve as a civilian working in support of the Army. The only thing I disagree with is, I do not know what Ms. Berry ancestry is. I do not know if her family was from Africa or some other country.

What I do know is that many brave women and men have given their lives so that anyone wanting a better life and the freedoms provided by the constitution can have it. I do not begrudge Ms. Berry for her feelings however I feel that feeling this way she should not have applied to participate in the Olympics representing the greatest nation on earth. The time, energy and money spent by the US government for training and travel should have been given to someone that at a minimum will stand quietly and tall while her other teammates stand to honor the country they love and represent.

Like others have posted above, if Ms. Berry or any other person doesn’t like it in the United States of America then they should find another country that will allow them citizenship and move.

  12. only in america do you have the right to spew such hatred against the country that so many have given their lives to make it possible for her to spew such hatre,…in many other countries she would be imprisoned or executed for treason
