A right-wing watchdog group is demanding some answers about chief White House medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci.
According to a new request from Judicial Watch, its researchers want to know what the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director was doing in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Invitees, notes, and other attachments”
Fox News noted that the group has been trying to get access to Fauci’s calendar entries from Nov. 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020.
It is during this period that the virus began to spread across China and around the world — including the first cases reported in the United States.
Judicial Watch has therefore filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Department of Health and Human Services.
Specifically, the court document requests “all calendars or calendar entries for Dr. Anthony Fauci, including calendars maintained on Dr. Fauci’s behalf” during the aforementioned period.
In addition, the request seeks “the names of invitees, notes, and other attachments for a given entry.”
“A right to know”
Along with the group Open the Books, Judicial Watch gave the HHS until Dec. 13 to comply with the request.
“On Nov. 5, 2021, Plaintiffs submitted a FOIA request to the National Institutes of Health, a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, via the National Institutes of Health electronic submission system, seeking access to [Fauci’s calendars],” the complaint asserts.
As Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton explained: “Fauci wields enormous power and the American people have a right to know what he has been up to.”
It remains to be seen whether a judge agrees with that argument. In any case, this is not the only recent pressure placed on Fauci by a growing number of critics in D.C. and across the country. Following one tense exchange with U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) during a congressional hearing, Fauci can be heard calling the senator “a moron” under his breath.
Between his calendar entries to his financial records to controversial research at a lab in China, Fauci’s critics seem convinced that Fauci has a lot to hide — and it appears he is doing his best to keep those things hidden.
