Judicial Watch to sue Secret Service for documents related to Hunter Biden’s gun purchase

In March last year, Politico reported that the U.S. Secret Service may have attempted to help Hunter Biden cover up an illegal gun purchase.

According to the Washington Examiner, Judicial Watch has filed a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain documents relating to the incident.

While the Secret Service denied any wrongdoing, the story lead a conservative watchdog group to sue.

Seeking records

Specifically, the organization is seeking “all records of communications sent to and from U.S. Secret Service officials internally and with outside parties regarding the reported purchase, possession, and disposal” of a weapon which Biden bought at a Delaware gun shop in October of 2018.

Politico obtained a copy of Biden’s receipt and Firearms Transaction Record, with the latter showing that he answered “no” when asked whether he was a drug user.

While drug users are prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law, Biden has a well publicized history of drug use and was expelled from the Navy after he tested positive for cocaine.

Gun surrendered

Biden’s acquisition of the handgun upset his sister-in-law and then-girlfriend Hallie Biden, who proceeded to take the weapon and dump it in a garbage can near a school.

The gun store owner then said he was approached by Secret Service agents who demanded that he turn over the record of Biden’s purchase, something he refused to do.

Biden’s gun was eventually surrendered to police after it was discovered by a man who regularly goes through garbage cans in search of recyclables.

“The Secret Service and the Biden administration apparently are in cover-up mode for Hunter Biden,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said in a statement.

“Whether its Hunter Biden’s laptop, his business practices and travel, or these documents related to the careless disposal of a gun in a dumpster near a high school, this administration continues to put up unlawful roadblocks to any effort to investigate the activities of the Biden family, particularly Hunter,” he added.
