Kevin McCarthy promises to investigate intel community cover-up of Hunter Biden scandal

House Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is promising to probe intelligence officials who misled the American people by claiming the Hunter Biden scandal was “Russian disinformation.”

McCarthy told the New York Post that the GOP will subpoena officials to learn what they were hiding from the public before the 2020 election.

GOP to probe Hunter Biden coverup

Shortly before the 2020 election, 51 former intelligence officials baselessly asserted that the New York Post’s reporting on Hunter Biden’s e-mails was “Russian disinformation.”

It’s a talking point that is no longer taken seriously by even the most partisan liberal media, but at the time, it gave Biden an excuse to dismiss the scandal on national television, and the mainstream media followed the Biden campaign’s cues.

McCarthy, whose party is bullish about taking back the House majority in November, said that Republicans will uncover what intel officials knew all along about Hunter Biden’s business deals.

“They should come in and talk to us,” McCarthy told the Post. “You’d want to ask these individuals what did they know and when.”

“People can come in and talk to us and answer the questions. If that’s not the case there are times we will use the subpoena as well,” he added.

FBI protecting Biden

The intelligence community cannot be allowed “to utilize their name in an improper way without correcting,” McCarthy emphasized.

McCarthy’s threat comes after whistleblowers alerted Republican Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) that officials inside the FBI labeled incriminating information about Hunter Biden “Russian disinformation,” which suggests the effort to make the scandal disappear was more extensive than previously known.

The FBI has also had Hunter Biden’s laptop since 2019, leaving many to suspect the agency is protecting the Biden family, but McCarthy told the Post he will give FBI director Christopher Wray the “benefit of the doubt.”

However, it’s possible McCarthy is having some second thoughts after the alarming, unprecedented FBI raid on former president Donald Trump’s home on Monday. McCarthy responded by warning Biden’s attorney general, Merrick Garland, to “clear your calendar.”

“I’ve seen enough,” McCarthy said. “The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.”
