Frequent Fox News guest, Lara Logan, absent from network after attacking Fauci on air

Frequent Fox News guest Lara Logan has not appeared on the network over the past week following an on-air rant in which she compared President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, to the infamous Nazi doctor and war criminal, Josef Mengele, Mediaite reports.

Last Monday on Fox News Primetime, Logan downplayed the dangers of COVID-19 and compared it to the seasonal flu before zeroing in on Fauci.

“What you see on Dr. Fauci, this is what people say to me, that he doesn’t represent science to them,” she said, referring to recent remarks by Fauci. “He represents Josef Mengele. Dr. Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps.”

She went on to say that the comparison to Mengele was happening all over the world because of his response to COVID-19 and added, “what it has done to civil liberties, the suicide rates, the poverty, it has obliterated economies.”

Conspicuous absence

Mediaite was the first to comment on Logan’s noticeable absence from Fox News after she made the comments. The week before her remarks, Mediaite noted, Logan made three appearances on the network, and the prior week, she made six.

Logan hosts a Fox Nation streaming show, on which she has continued to appear.

She has doubled down on her Mengele comments, retweeting a number of other Nazi comparisons on Twitter. It was also noted that she blocked the Auschwitz Museum on Twitter after it condemned her Nazi comments.

Fauci was outraged at Logan’s comments and wondered why Fox News failed to properly discipline her as a result.

Fauci’s response

According to The Daily Beast, Fauci, last Thursday, told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes that her remarks made an “absolutely preposterous and disgusting comparison,” and added that it was “an insult to all of the people who suffered and died under the Nazi regime in the concentration camps.”

“I mean, it’s unconscionable what she said,” Fauci continued.

“What I find striking, Chris, is how she gets no discipline whatsoever from the Fox network,” Fauci said. “How they can let her say that with no comment and no disciplinary action? I’m astounded by that!”

The controversy comes at a time when after months of reportedly turning down Fox News requests to appear on the network, Fauci has again turned up as a guest. He appeared on Neil Cavuto’s show Friday after a long absence.
