Leaked audio contradicts claim that Trump stormed out of interview

British television presenter Piers Morgan began a new Fox Nation series this week called “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” and it featured a conversation with former President Donald Trump.

Although Morgan later accused Trump of walking out of the interview, audio released by the former president’s team tells a different tale.

Morgan says Trump was “quite angry”

Breitbart reported that Morgan discussed the incident on Sunday with Fox News host Howard Kurtz during an episode of  “Media Buzz.”

“It was uncomfortable,” Breitbart quoted Morgan as telling Kurtz, adding, “I’ve never seen him like that. He was very angry. Quite profane, in fact.”

Piers Morgan said, “At the end, I thanked him, and I shook his hand, which is completely true. But then he just got up, barked at our cameras. ‘Turn the camera off.’”

“And then he walked off. And as he walks off, he muttered loudly — we have all this on film — ‘So dishonest. So dishonest.’ About me. And I just thought that was rude and churlish, and I felt that constituted a walkout, actually,” Morgan insisted.

Earlier in the week, Morgan tweeted out a teaser for the interview that featured a sharp exchange with Trump that ended with him getting up.

However, NBC News reported that a Trump representative provided it with an audio recording of what happened after the interview concluded.

Audio shows Trump agreed the interview was “great”

According to NBC, there were “no signs of Trump’s storming off set” and he could instead be heard thanking Morgan and agreeing that the interview had been “great.”

Kurtz pointed to the recording, saying, “However ticked off the former president may have been, he thanked you, you thanked him. You said ‘great interview.’ It didn’t sound like he was storming off in anger.”

Morgan responded, “I didn’t claim it was some ferocious, screaming, storming off. I just said that actually, right at the end, he got up, barked ‘turn the cameras off,’ and called me dishonest and walked away.”

Interestingly, walking out of an interview is something that Morgan has first-hand experience with as he famously stormed off the set of “Good Morning Britain” last year.
