President Joe Biden made an appearance in the Northeast this week to tour areas that were impacted by Hurricane Ida. While Biden insists that his outing went well, video footage demonstrates otherwise, as the president was brutally heckled by ticked-off protesters.
RNC Research tweeted a clip of the heckling action on Tuesday with a caption that read, “New Jerseyans call out Biden: ‘You leave Americans behind!’”
The video footage showed Biden milling about alongside law enforcement officers around a storm-damaged home in a residential neighborhood as people could be heard yelling at the president from behind a backyard fence.
Protesters slam Biden
The hecklers, one of whom appeared to be holding a Trump flag, took issue with Biden’s decision to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan despite American citizens remaining trapped in the country, which is now under full Taliban control.
“You leave Americans behind,” one man yelled. He added, “We will leave you behind. (Inaudible) You guys! We’ll leave you behind.”
The unidentified man went on to mention the name of a fallen U.S. soldier who was buried in December 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery before asking, “What? He lost his life for what?”
At one point during the president’s tour, a woman heckled him for abandoning hundreds of Americans and Afghan allies. “My country is going to s— and you’re allowing it!”, she shouted, which was evidenced in a longer clip of the incident carried by C-SPAN.
“And I’m an immigrant and I’m proud of this country!” the woman continued. “I’d give my life for this country. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.”
Biden: They “don’t understand”
According to Fox News, Biden later downplayed the incident while appearing at an event in the Queens section of New York City with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
“None of them were shouting or complaining,” Biden falsely claimed. “Every one of them were thanking me as if it was something special … that I was here.”
At another event in New York, the president admitted that some people had, in fact, protested his event but bizarrely — and again falsely — suggested that their anger was tied to climate change.
“The people who stand on the other side of the fences, who don’t live there, who are yelling that we’re interfering with free enterprise by doing something about climate change — they don’t live there,” Biden said, adding, “They don’t understand.”
