Prominent critics of President Joe Biden are increasingly advocating for his impeachment — most recently in response to his efforts to extend an evictions moratorium in apparent violation of a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling.
For his part, Fox News Channel personality Mark Levin called the president a “coward” who should be impeached for causing unnecessary hardships to the American people.
“The most disastrous president”
Biden’s recent actions regarding federal protections for renters facing eviction have contributed to the mounting backlash over his administration’s immigration policies.
Responding to this and other divisive decisions, Levin described Biden as “the most disastrous president in modern history” and a force causing more harm to the U.S. than any foreign adversary.
“Isn’t it time to remove this guy from the Oval Office or at least make an effort?” the conservative host asked, according to a report from Fox. “So you tough guy Republicans who come on here, you tough guy Republicans on radio, how about it? The ‘I’ word, impeachment, let’s start to talk about it. Or the 25th Amendment.”
Republicans on Capitol Hill currently lack the political power to successfully launch an impeachment effort, but the increasingly heated rhetoric reflects the frustration of millions of Americans toward the authoritarian tendencies of the current president.
“More impeachable than Watergate”
Another common complaint is that Biden’s policies effectively treat undocumented immigrants with more favoritism than the American citizens he believes should live under draconian restrictions in the name of mitigating the spread of COVID-19.
The president has also blamed unvaccinated Americans for the latest spike in COVID-19 infections while apparently holding incoming migrants to a significantly looser standard. As Levin argued, Biden’s border policy is akin to “inviting people into the country that he knows have polio.”
For his part, right-wing radio host Jesse Kelly said the president’s border policy is “more impeachable than Watergate.”
In response to the latest announcement regarding the eviction moratorium, Levin offered a pithy indictment: “This man just violated a Supreme Court decision. This man has the border wide open in violation of our immigration laws. What kind of a president does that to his own people?”
