Liberal New York Democrat calls out ‘absent’ AOC

While Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is a favorite target of the right, she has a growing number of critics on the left who are getting tired of her phony political drama.

Jessica Ramos, a liberal state lawmaker, and one-time ally, accused AOC of being “absent” from her district in New York, the New York Post reported.

AOC called out

The controversy erupted after a medical student complained about AOC, who supports single-payer healthcare, turning down a meeting to discuss healthcare reform. The student derided AOC’s “performative resistance art” after she was accused of pretending to be handcuffed at an abortion protest.

AOC apologized and encouraged the disgruntled supporter to reach out again, saying the response from her office wasn’t “representative of me nor my values.”

But Ramos, whose Queens, New York district overlaps with AOC’s, said she wasn’t surprised by AOC’s disinterest in advancing the progressive agenda she’s always claiming to champion.

“Maybe if you spent more time in your office and with your team you’d know what goes on. Just saying it would be nice if you breathed our air,” Ramos tweeted.

AOC has been known for making attention-grabbing claims, like the claim that she thought she would die during the January 6th, Capitol riot.

Is the left over AOC?

Ramos said that she contacted AOC on January 6th to see how she was doing and received radio silence.

“I texted on 1/6 that I hope she’s ok and never even heard back. She doesn’t meet with local elected officials,” Ramos said. “The point is that’s when I gave up texting her. I reached out many times before. She hasn’t shown interest in meeting w me or other colleagues that I know about.”

Responding to critics who said she’s envious of AOC, Ramos said she was relaying the facts.

“Our district offices are on the same floor in the same building. She’s barely ever present in the community. It’s an indisputable fact,” she said.

Unfortunately, given her notoriety, it’s not likely that AOC will be going anywhere anytime soon.
