Liberals shriek ‘no uterus, no opinion,’ overlooking history of Roe V. Wade

The Supreme Court’s leaked opinion overturning Roe v. Wade has exposed the violent, hateful extremism and striking ignorance of the radical left.

A radical pro-abortion mob that gathered outside Brett Kavanaugh’s house on Saturday chanted “no uterus, no opinion,” apparently unaware that Roe was decided by an all-male Court.

Liberal mob makes critical Roe error

Seven of those men decided that the right to an abortion is hiding somewhere in the Constitution. Two dissented.

The dissenters, William Rehnquist and Byron White argued that the Court was engaging in a “raw exercise of judicial power” by creating a right to an abortion out of whole cloth — a view that detractors of Roe, including the Court’s current majority, have held ever since.

“The Court simply fashions and announces a new constitutional right for pregnant women and, with scarcely any reason or authority for its action, invests that right with sufficient substance to override most existing state abortion statutes,” wrote White at the time.

Roe has long been criticized even by abortion advocates like Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Legally speaking, it rests on quicksand. As Justice Samuel Alito noted in his leaked opinion, the Court based the right to an abortion on a right to privacy that it claimed existed in some combination of five different amendments.

To resolve the moral question posed by abortion, the Court came up with a totally arbitrary “viability” standard for deciding when abortion is permitted that left the states with “less freedom to regulate abortion than the majority of western democracies enjoy,” Alito notes.

Reasoning with the mob

Alito’s leaked opinion would finally overturn this arbitrary precedent, allowing the people to decide an issue of paramount moral importance for the first time in fifty years, instead of letting a court be the sole decider. Strangely, liberals call this outcome an attack on “democracy.”

Does the fact that Roe was decided by all men mean that it should be overturned as an artifact of the patriarchy? What are the rules, exactly, for which Supreme Court opinions are legitimate — sacrosanct, actually, as the left seems to think of Roe — and which justify harassing a judge’s family?

Does the left even understand what they’re defending? Maybe they just don’t care. The particulars of how Roe was decided are less important to them than the “right” it arbitrarily established.

Roe has been law for fifty years, so it should remain forever. It doesn’t matter if it’s morally right, or even Constitutional — it is, so it should remain. That’s the left’s entire argument, in a nutshell.

It’s not much of an argument. Then again, mobs don’t reason with arguments — they use force to get their way, as the country is being reminded by the pro-abortion extremists who are attempting to take the Court hostage right now. This kind of barbarism cannot be tolerated in a civilized country.
