The mainstream media, in conjunction with Big Tech, clearly view themselves as the gatekeepers of information to the American public, and their longstanding effort to silence and suppress voices that stray from the approved narrative has kicked into overdrive.
Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh noted the escalation of the information war and predicted that he, and others like him on the right, should expect to be targeted in the near future with the wrath of the left-wing elite intent on squelching dissenting voices, WND reported.
Limbaugh made his warning in response to media appearances over the weekend from Democratic Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman as well as former Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos, both of whom charged conservatives with lying and spreading disinformation among the American public — a “crime” worthy of being censored and de-platformed.
Speaking Sunday with CNN’s Brian Stelter, Stamos compared President Donald Trump’s “violent extremist” supporters on social media to members of ISIS.
“We have to turn down the capability of these conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences,” he said.
“There are people on YouTube, for example, that have a larger audience than daytime CNN, and they are extremely radical and pushing extremely radical views,” Stamos lamented. “So it’s up to the Facebooks and YouTubes, in particular, to think about whether or not they want to be effectively cable networks for disinformation.”
The former Facebook official also raised the “problem” of conservative-leaning media outlets like Newsmax and One America News as having “freedom of speech, but I’m not sure we need Verizon, AT&T, Comcast and such to be bringing them into tens of millions of homes. This is allowing people to seek out information if they really want to, but not pushing it into their faces. I think it’s where we’re gonna have to go here.”
Limbaugh predicts he’s next
“If you dissent, you’re a domestic terrorist, folks. If you dissent from whatever it is the Democrat Party today believes, they are claiming they have a right to shut you down, to delete your tweets,” Limbaugh said during his program on Monday.
After playing the audio clip of Stamos’ remarks regarding Newsmax and OANN, the radio host said, “They may as well not have freedom of speech if you’re gonna say that they can’t have platforms that give them a basis to operate,” and proceeded to chide Stamos for either not understanding or not agreeing with the fundamental principles of free speech and the First Amendment.
“He said, ‘Look. It’s up to the Facebooks and YouTubes to think about whether or not they want to be effectively cable networks for disinformation.’ That’s what conservatism is, you see. Disinformation,” Limbaugh said. “‘We have got to turn down the capability of these conservative influencers to reach these huge audiences.’ They may as well be talking about me and radio stations. And they’ll get there eventually.”
“Right now we’re flying under the radar because these people don’t know what AM radio is, so they don’t feel threatened by it. When they figure it out, they’re gonna saying the same thing to our EIB affiliates that they’re now saying to Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast,” he predicted.
“‘Well, I mean, you know, Rush Limbaugh has the biggest audience of anybody in radio, and you gotta something about that. That’s out-of-control conservatism. We can’t let you do this,'” Limbaugh added in imitation of his detractors. “Yeah, that’s where we’re headed.”
