The liberal backlash to Florida’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law has shown that many on the left are strangely dedicated to sexualizing children.
Los Angeles County is issuing an utterly bizarre ban on state officials traveling to Florida in response to the state’s “egregious” new anti-grooming law, Breitbart reported.
LA issues bizarre ban
The county’s supervisors voted unanimously to approve a motion from Supervisors Sheila Kuehl and Hilda Solis banning state travel to Florida and Texas.
Kuehl called Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s (R) new anti-grooming law, which bans teachers from talking about sex to children in kindergarten through third grade, “egregious” and against California’s values.
“As we’ve done in the past where states have enacted some egregious laws that contravene everything that we have done in L.A. County and in California, this motion calls for a travel ban on all travel to these states,” Kuehl said.
The supervisors also condemned Republican leaders in Texas for classifying sex change operations on minors as a form of child abuse. The Biden administration came out in support of such “gender-affirming care” last week to mark “Trans Day of Visibility.”
Denying such “care” will prevent children with gender dysphoria from “[discovering] who they are and [feeling] secure in their sense of self,” the supervisors said, calling the policy “discriminatory, harmful and just plain cruel.”
A vocal minority?
The pushback on DeSantis’s law, disingenuously labeled the “Don’t Say Gay” law by detractors, appears to be coming from a vocal, overrepresented minority of ideologues in the media, the liberal elite and woke companies like Disney.
Despite disinformation that the left is spreading about the law, it is popular, with 52 percent of Democrats saying they support it in a recent poll.
Nevertheless, Los Angeles County accused DeSantis of trying to impede “learning” by protecting young children from being sexualized.
But DeSantis isn’t backing down. The governor is threatening to yank Disney’s special privileges — and calling out the left’s agenda for what it is.
“As the parent of three kids that are aged 5 and under, thank you for letting me and my wife be able to send our kids to kindergarten without them being sexualized,” he told the legislature.
