The turnover in the Trump Administration might be about to spike in the coming months.
Axios reports that John McEntee, the new hire who has been put in charge of Trump administration appointments, is currently compiling a list of “anti-Trump” personnel within the president’s administration.
Who is he?
McEntee was recently selected by President Donald Trump to lead the Presidential Personnel Office (PPO). But this isn’t his first go-round with the administration.
McEntee’s relationship with Trump, in fact, goes all the way back to the 2016 presidential campaign where he started off as a volunteer. He worked his way up from this position until he was later promoted to trip director.
This, in turn, led to a position in Trump’s original administration as the president’s body man and personal aide. McEntee held this position until March of 2018 when he exited the White House.
Immediately afterward, McEntee joined President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign as the senior adviser for campaign operations. And now, since January, McEntee has been back at Trump’s side as head of the PPO.
In this capacity, McEntee reportedly has been tasked with identifying those members of Trump’s administration who have been working against the president’s agenda.
McEntee recently met with liaisons of the White House cabinet in order to find out who these “anti-Trump” individuals might be, sources “familiar with the meeting” told Axios.
And McEntee isn’t just a powerless investigator either. Trump has reportedly given McEntee the authority to fire “bad people” and the “Deep State.”
Those who can be trusted
The re-hiring of McEntee, along with this task of rooting out “anti-Trump” White House personnel, marks an interesting time in the Trump administration, one in which the president appears to be coming full circle.
Besides McEntee, we have also recently seen the return of Hope Hicks, another member of the original Trump administration. She will reportedly be working with Jared Kushner as a counselor to the president.
It seems that in the wake of the Democrats’ failed impeachment efforts, President Trump is looking to surround himself with those individuals whom he knows he can trust. And given what he’s been through, who can blame him?
