The Hill reported that a Texas man pleaded guilty late last week to assaulting a police officer during the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill.
The website pointed to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release which explained that 43-year-old Adam Lejay Jackson entered his plea this past Friday before Judge Rudolph Contreras. He is set to be sentenced in February.
It explained that Jackson traveled to Washington, D.C. on January 5, 2021 with his brother to participate in the "Stop the Steal" rally organized by former President Donald Trump.
Prosecutors allege that Jackson "made several statements to other rioters heavily outfitted in tactical military gear who were walking by."

This included saying, "Are we going in?," "We got your back; let’s go," "Hey, you know what - if one goes, we all go," and "What are we doing standing here? Let’s go!"
Jackson, along with another person, is said to have begun climbing a ladder at Lower West Terrace at around 4:15 p.m. and "used his cell phone to make a video of what was happening there, often zooming in to focus on the aggressive conduct of the rioters."
Roughly 45 minutes later, Jackson allegedly "assaulted law enforcement officers first by hurling a large, red/orange cone-like object at them and then by charging at and ramming them with a stolen police riot shield."
On January 10, Jackson had a conversation with another individual on Facebook, who told him, "Looks like you guys were all up in it!"
Jackson responded, "We were. I’m f--k p---ed at what is happening and the things that are being covered up." When asked if he planned to return for President Joe Biden's inauguration, Jackson replied, "I’m gonna do my best to get there. Working on it."
The Hill noted that although Jackson attempted to hide evidence by deleting Facebook posts and messages, that material was subsequently recovered.
One post referenced a possible coup by Trump, stating, "If POTUS doesn’t stop this, [Trump] will be hunted down and arrested along with his entire family by the left."
"That’s a fact. And with him gone, our country is gone too. He knows this. He’s not going to sit there and do nothing," it continued.
"From now to the 19th is show time, we just don’t know exactly when. So yes, we are in a full blown Military Operation right now to remove the threats and install our President back in power and control the violence in the big cities," it concluded.
